Picture Perfecto
Fair Isle sweaters are quintessentially preppy...they are beautiful pieces with a fantastic history which makes them all the more interesting when you don't wear it traditionally. We love the pattern contrasted against leather jackets or worn alone by women as a sweater vest. Fred shot this portrait of Lucie in an incredibly cool 1960s Schott Perfecto (a jacket they still make for women today) for an ongoing portrait series he's working on called The Girl Next Door Is Still Beautiful™. The project is essentially celebrating our idealized version of the girl next door—real girls, tomboy influenced styling, and all-natural beauty. Case in point, Lucie has never colored her hair*, rarely wears make-up, and is completely comfortable in her own skin.
The younger sister of our friend Stéphane, she's crashing his East Village apartment while in from L.A. She loves surfing, Spanish music, and is currently studying textile design at Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.
*Finding a woman who has never colored her hair is like experiencing a unicorn. There is a beauty about her that is pure, extremely wild, and coated with contentment.
